Nevis and St. Kitts Villa Rentals By CARIBIQUE®

A panoramic view of the islands of Nevis taken from St. Kitts in the Caribbean.

The islands were home to Carib Indians long before Britain began to build settlements in 1623. St. Kitts and Nevis were granted independence from the UK in 1983, and the island of Nevis continues in efforts to secede from St. Kitts, though the last referendum fell short of the required vote.

The two islands still work very closely with one another. Frequent ferry service means you can spend time on both islands, whether it’s just a day trip or more. St. Kitts is the larger of the two and has a busier atmosphere, while pretty Nevis has a slower pace and invites the traveller to get to know every bit of the island because it’s so easily explored.

History lovers will enjoy a visit to St. Kitts’ UNESCO recognized Brimstone Hill Fortress, and amateur geologists will appreciate the various volcanic formations on both islands. The islands are also considered to be very romantic, and are popular destinations for newlyweds or anniversary celebrants. The usual white sandy beaches, undisturbed shady paths, the vibrant soca beat are all present and accounted for, and it’s easy to find a quiet cove somewhere to relax with your loved one.

St. Kitts and Nevis are also famous for the pride islanders take in their islands’ natural beauty, the rolling green hills and the pristine beaches, and their efforts to maintain it. Overall, a visit to St. Kitts and Nevis is likely to give visitors a well-rounded Caribbean experience.
